QUINTER, MARY, FARIDA And BEATRICE

My name is Quinter.  I am the eldest in a family of four girls. Our mother died while we were still young and we were left with our father. He used to work as a security guard in a school near Mombasa’s Likoni slums. His meager earnings could merely sustain us and we were eventually rendered homeless and had to drop out of school.

In 2006, our father who had been ailing felt his condition worsening. Through the local area chief he sought for help from the Children’s Department, which then brought us to Minto Children’s Home. Few weeks later our father passed away.

By then I was only 9 years while my sister Mary was 7. The twins, Beatrice and Farida were only 5 years old.

Mama Susan received us warmly. She bought us clothes, school uniforms and text books and enrolled us in primary school. The best of all, we were assured of three meals a day, well cooked and in good proportion!

Next year (2019) I hope to join secondary school having sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education this year. Mary will be joining Form Two while the twins will be going to Standard Six. We have not only found a home here but a haven full of love.

Thank you Mama Susan for giving us a second chance at life! Thank You Minto Children’s Home for accepting us and touching our lives!
